ARLA qualifications on offer via agency apprenticeship scheme

A London lettings and sales agency has launched an apprenticeship scheme.

The JOHNS&CO Academy invites young people to train via courses ranging from Junior Estate Agent, Housing & Property Management, Customer Service and Recruitment Resource.

Eight recruits have already been earmarked for the inaugural class: after 12 to 18 months 2023 the trainees will gain an industry recognised ARLA qualification, awarded by PropertyMark, and will be considered for a permanent position at JOHNS&CO.

The apprentices will spend time shadowing senior staff members, attending workshops to learn about every aspect of the job and to gain wider knowledge.

The launch of The Academy follows JOHNS&CO’s involvement in the government-led Kickstart scheme.

This has seen the agency, which employs over 140 staff across eight branches, successfully train 16 young Kickstarters and find permanent positions for many of them, in roles across Marketing, Accounts, Property Management, Sales and Lettings.

Former Kickstarter and now Sales Negotiator at JOHNS&CO, Toufique Miah, says: “Before I joined JOHNS&CO,I had struggled to find work after leaving college at 18, which is such a common problem for young people.

“When I joined the Kickstart scheme, I didn’t have any experience in the property industry but with exceptional training that equipped me with both skills and knowledge,

“I’ve progressed quickly to a Sales Negotiator in one of JOHNS&CO’s highest performing offices. By next year I hope to be a senior Sales Negotiator and I feel confident that JOHNS&CO will help me to achieve this.”
