The tenancy deposit protection scheme mydeposits, set up by the National Landlords Association, says it has been dealing with nearly a quarter more adjudications.
The scheme says that between April and August, the number of complaints that went to alternative dispute resolution was 24% up on the same period last year.
However, the length of time taken to resolve cases has come down slightly from 58 to 55 days.
Four out of every ten disputes are now outsourced for resolution to the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR).
Eddie Hooker, chief executive of mydeposits, said: “While we have a team of professional adjudicators on hand to effectively resolve disputes, we are the only scheme to outsource disputes externally to the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution.
“By splitting the number of adjudications we handle internally and between CEDR, we provide vital assurances to landlords, agents and their tenants that the service we offer is professional, fair and transparent and that we are committed to cutting the cost of our dispute resolution.”
The scheme has also launched a new set of ‘how to claim’ guidance for landlords and agents which outlines key considerations when submitting evidence for dispute cases.
