With many of last year’s winners still basking in their achievements, entries are now being invited for the What House? Awards 2012, considered to be the Oscars of the UK’s housebuilding industry. Housebuilders and their representatives can download a prospectus and entry form now online (http://www.globespanmedia.com/whathouse/WHA12_Prospectus.pdf) or request one from the organisers on 020 7324 2800.

Once again, the What House? Awards, now in their 31st year, will showcase the very best new homes in Britain, as housebuilders and housing associations large and small do battle across 21 categories for the industry’s most prestigious prizes. The Gold, Silver and Bronze awards will be presented at a spectacular gala luncheon on Friday 16th November 2012, once again to be held in the Great Room of the Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane, London.

The entry deadline is Monday 16th July 2012, so there’s plenty of time to decide your categories and prepare your submissions, with the prospect of weeks of Spring and Summer sunshine in which to photograph your properties to their very best advantage.

When all the entries are received, an extensive judging panel of industry experts will assess each entry and formulate a shortlist of the very best entries. The judges represent a wide range of disciplines in housebuilding, including architects, designers, consultants, sustainability experts and journalists. Each shortlisted development is then visited by at least one judge and a detailed report submitted, prior to the final awards being decided.

Derek Smith, Managing Director of organisers Globespan Media Ltd, says: “We’re delighted to announce the launch of the What House? Awards 2012 and to invite Britain’s housebuilders, developers and housing associations to start considering their entries for the industry’s most coveted prizes. The deadline in mid-July means they have over three months to make their entries stand out to our panel of judges. With 21 categories to enter, there really is something for everyone to enter and with confidence growing within the industry, we’re sure that there will be plenty to celebrate at the 31st Awards luncheon in November.”

The 2011 What House? Awards featured winners from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, as well as the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, making it a truly national celebration of the UK housebuilding industry. Well over 1,000 senior industry professionals saw United House crowned Housebuilder of the Year at the gala luncheon. The company will be hoping to retain their prestigious title but will be challenged hard by an array of housebuilders of all sizes for the ultimate prize in British housebuilding.
