Martin & Co in Shipley, West Yorkshire, has become the 200th letting agency to sign on to the Lets with Pets scheme launched by animal welfare charity Dogs Trust.
The scheme asks landlords to allow people to rent properties with their pet, and this year the Ask, Advertise, Add campaign was launched, aimed specifically at letting agencies to encourage them to ask their landlords to take a ‘pets considered’ approach.
The ‘3As’ campaign asked that agencies advertise on their website which properties consider pets, and add pet clauses into tenancy agreements.
Emma Field, client manager at Martin & Co, said: “We are delighted to be on board with Dogs Trust to help promote this scheme and persuade landlords to allow people to rent with their pets.
“When it comes to looking for a home, we don’t think people should be penalised for owning a dog, and we will ensure that all our landlords are aware of our involvement in the scheme.”

NeilJ - I trust you have the appropriate FSA accreditation if you're offering advice to landlords about any aspect of their insurance arrangements.
Equally, I sincerely hope you don't persuade your landlord clients to do anything whatsoever, because if you do your PI really is at risk.
Its the Letting Agent's job to provide the landlord with sufficient information to enable him to make an informed choice - not to persuade him to do something.

Tenants should be penalised for owning a dog when trying to rent a property.
Probably from a tenant perspective it works out more cost effective to have a pet put down before applying for rentals rather than paying for proffesional cleaners or loosing their deposit because 'fluffy' destroyed a £200,000 house that their landlord kindly leased to them for a set period of time.
Keep clear of renting to tenants with their 'darling' pets
Cats destroy furniture.
Dogs destroy gardens.
Try getting compensation.
Do Martin & Co advise their clients that in the event of a pet causing major damage their insurance is not valid. If they presuade them I hope their PI cover is adequate. How does the Landlord deal with the next tenant who has an allergy to pets....who pays for the sterilisation if previous tenant and deposit away.
Remember the news item about the Hamster who ate through an electrical cable and burnt the house down.
