Agents Thornley Groves have boosted profits by 44% after a record-breaking year in their lettings business.

The 21-year-old firm, based in Altrincham, Cheshire, said operating profits rose from £576,089 in 2011 to £829,025 last year. Revenues were also up, by 9.5% to £4.1m.

Residential property sales rose by just over 15% but more than 60% of the firm’s revenue came from lettings and property management.

Rents collected on behalf of landlords came to over £13.5m for the first time.

The company, which has eight offices plus two property management centres in Manchester, sold over 750 homes, secured more than 1,600 lettings and managed over 2,000 properties.

Managing director Michael Groves said he is optimistic for further growth this year.
