Online ‘self-service’ lettings agent Upad has named the former marketing director at Sony Computer Entertainment UK, Alan Duncan, as its new head of marketing.

Starting this month, he will be responsible for the strategic planning and execution of communications at Upad, helping the agency propel its brand further.

Duncan said: “I am thrilled to be joining the team at Upad. The idea that landlords are better at conducting property viewings than estate agents is essentially what Upad is built on.

“My job is to extol the virtues of self-service online lettings through strategic planning and innovative thinking.

“They’re rewriting the rules in this highly competitive and rapidly expanding arena and this represents the perfect challenge for me."

As Sony’s marketing director, a position he held for over seven years, he oversaw campaigns for the likes of Playstation 3, which saw a 250% increase in sales.

Is this news? So what if some IT bloke has lost his job at Sony and gone to work for a tiny property portal?

All it shows is that he knows nothing about lettings or estate agency come to that.

And shame on LAT calling him heavyweight - isn't that a bit Fat-ist
