A letting agent in Newark, Nottinghamshire, has become the first in its area to adopt rental feedback scheme Consider-Rate.
Buttercross Estates has adopted the system which it sees as an alternative to licensing.
The scheme offers a two-way feedback system which allows tenants and agents to make sound judgements by filling information gaps about each party.
It allows tenants, agents and landlords to build their own online digital CV to demonstrate that they are reliable to do business with.
Consider-Rate says it provides people on both sides of the 'property fence to validate their own reputation and check the reliability of others.'
Daniel Otton, Director at Buttercross Estates commented: "For us, Consider-Rate means we are transparent to our tenants and landlords whilst providing evidence to protect them should it be required.”
"I really do believe that it is the best way for everyone in the lettings process to build up a profile of trust," he added.

It is a good idea in theory, but I'm a bit sceptical about how it would work in practice.
