The Advertising Standards Authority has praised a letting agency after it agreed to amend an advertisement following a complaint - meaning that the ASA had no need to make any official adjudication about the issue.
The complaint came because a newspaper advertisement for Citylets used contact details which appeared to suggest that the agency was based in or around Plymouth - when in reality that was not the case.
The ASA contacted the letting agency which immediately agreed to amend the wording in future advertisements.
As a result the matter was categorised as an ‘informally resolved’ complaint instead of requiring a published ruling.
An ASA spokeswoman told Letting Agent Today: “This happens quite often when there is just one complaint that there is no substantial disagreement about the point from the advertiser. That was the case here and the letting agency kindly agreed to amend the advertisement in future.”
