Countrywide has acquired Woods Estate Agents, a Bristol-based lettings and sales agency with five branches covering the city and north Somerset.
Woods will continue to operate as normal under its well-established brand name, managed by directors Olivia Donaghy and James Butler, while all employees will stay in their current roles.
Doug Wood, who set up the company in 1992, will continue “in the short term” according to a statement from Countrywide.
The acquisition follows the pattern of Countrywide growth outlined last year by Alison Platt, Countrywide’s chief executive.
She says that by 2020 lettings - now accounting for about 35 per cent of her company’s earnings - would rise to 37 per cent. There would in particular be growth in private renting in major cities, markets which would be pursued through Countrywide’s acquisition of existing independent agencies such as Woods.
