Operator enters Build To Rent with ambitious 5,000-pr...

L&Q has launched its programme to create 5,000 new homes for the Build To Rent sector in London and south east England over the next five years.

It claims this will be “the UK’s largest selection of purpose built and newly refurbished rental properties.”

LAT has reported extensively on the expansion of Build To Rent in the UK; L&Q’s offer promises ”transparent fees and no hidden costs is backed by a dedicated maintenance service which includes a 24-hour helpline.”

The operator says its properties are targetting professional tenants, and provides an example of how Build To Rent is shaping up in this country.

“We understand that renting is increasingly becoming a lifestyle choice for those who appreciate a more flexible and hassle-free living arrangement. This shift, coupled with rising house prices, has put the current rental sector under huge pressure” says Diane Hart, L&Q’s group director.

“As a result homes with the right quality, value and location from trustworthy landlords are in very short supply. We believe choosing to rent should never mean compromising on location, quality, service or design.”

She continues: “Our new rental portfolio will deliver on the expectations that today’s discerning tenants quite rightly have. L&Q already rents out more than 800 homes privately at market rates, and manages over 70,000 homes across London and the south east.
