Twitter debate tomorrow to inform agents on S21 regulations

Repair reporting specialist Fixflo and software provider VTUK are teaming up to provide what is believed to be the first Twitter debate on S21 notices.

The debate will be held tomorrow at 12 noon on on VTUK’s Twitter page - here - with agents and landlords encouraged to tweet questions, queries and opinions on the changes using #QuestionTribe.

Regulation changes introduced just over a year ago require agents or landlords to provide adequate responses to tenants’ complaint within 14 days to ensure a section 21 is served. Should this fail and the tenant complains to the local authority, the agent could be at risk of not being able to serve a Section 21 for six months.

In September this year a Fixflo report - based on feedback from 300 letting agents - revealed that one in 10 were unsure what was required to provide an “adequate response” to a tenant’s request for repairs, whilst eight per cent were completely unaware of the changes.

Fixflo - which has Countrywide, Connells and Zoopla amongst its investors - is run by former property lawyer Rajeev Nayyar; VTUK, set up in 1989, provides software to letting agents as well as other sectors of the property industry.
