Monojor Ali was fined £6,000 and ordered to pay costs of £1,318 plus a £170 surcharge for breach of House in Multiple Occupation licence.

The property in Willesden Green was found by Brent council housing inspectors to have inadequate fire protection to the communal areas, faulty wiring, smoke alarms broken and not working.

Ali was given the opportunity to rectify conditions and given a deadline to do so, however failed to take any action.

This prosecution was one of more than 50 already made this year by Brent council.
