The highly-publicised attempt by the founder of flat-sharing website SpareRoom to let two rooms from the London home “for what you can afford” has - predictably - produced a large response.
Some 7,251 people applied in the two weeks since Rupert Hunt advertised two rooms in his Grade II listed Spitalfields home; Hunt says three people will be selected.
Enterprisingly, 320 people submitted videos and 10 wrote songs to make their applications stand out.
Applicants apparently include three former contestants of The Apprentice as well as a cousin of Lord Sugar himself.
“I’ve been genuinely overwhelmed by the number of applications. I knew the response would be big but nowhere near this big. I have no idea how I’m going to pick just two or three people from so many” says Hunt in a press release.
