Burnley Council has named and shamed eleven landlords that have been prosecuted for ignoring its selective licensing scheme.
One landlord, Pierce Mullally, has been ordered to repay over £3,000 to the council in housing benefit which was received when the property should have been licensed.
The council successfully prosecuted the landlord for having no licence for his property between January 2014 and October 2015.
The other ten landlords were charged over £7,000 in fines, court costs, victim surcharges and compensation between them.
"We are committed to finding landlords who are avoiding selective licensing, not only to protect the health, safety and welfare of the tenants, but also to show those good, responsible landlords that we are taking action,” said Councillor John Harbour, executive member for housing and environment.
Back in April, the same council fined another landlord over £1,000 for failing to hold a proper licence.
