Michael Green has been appointed the first chief executive of the UK Apartment Association, a new trade body focusing exclusively on the Build To Rent sector.
Green is the former Chief Executive of the British Council of Shopping Centres, where he spent 11 years growing it into a trade body with over 3,000 members.
“My hope for the UKAA is to build a membership organisation that people are proud to be part of and that contributes to the success of this growing sector. I look forward to bringing people from across the industry together and raising the benchmark of service in the sector, resulting in a more professional and efficient marketplace and a better experience for the customers” he says.
Green spent 20 years working for Marks & Spencer, during which he worked in stores and then the estates and store development side of the business.
He then moved to commercial property occupier body MEPC working on developing relationships between the landlord and the tenants in shopping centres, before starting his own business GTT Associates.
Last week ARLA admitted its first institutional Build To Rent member, Get London Living, which manages and lets over 1,400 residential units near the former Olympic Games site in Stratford.
