A landlord operating in Wales has been fined almost £3,000 for failing to renew the House in Multiple Occupation (HMO) licences for his two rental properties.
Jeremy Teague chose not to attend his hearing at Cardiff Magistrates Court and was found guilty of two offences of failing to register properties.
The landlord's mandatory licences for his two rental properties, both on the same road, expired in 2013 and 2014.
He was sent several reminders between May 2013 and April 2016 but after ignoring them and continuing to occupy the properties, was summoned to court by the City of Cardiff Council.
The landlord was fined £2,400 and ordered to pay £200 costs.
Teague's properties have reportedly since been licensed.
