It’s been reported that Theresa May and her husband Philip jointly own a London apartment which is now let out and earns around £10,000 a year in rent.
The property - modest by London standards, as it is said to be worth only £100,000 - has been occupied since August 2016; it used to serve as May’s London base when she was a Cabinet minister and did not return each night to her Maidenhead constituency home.
The i newspaper says the property is described as being “in central London” and “may have some wondering what kind of shoe box in central London is worth £100,000.”
Last year The Mirror newspaper claimed that May’s predecessor, David Cameron, earned some £500,000 from letting out the family home in Notting Hill while he was in Number 10.
