Mydeposits says it is aware of a new scam from what it calls “a fraudulent company” imitating mydeposits and getting in touch with letting agents and landlords who are members of its custodial scheme in England & Wales.
“The scam imitates an email from mydeposits requesting the member to confirm their email address. Please do not click on the link and contact mydeposits immediately at info@mydeposits.co.uk” says the service.
It says the scam email appears to come from mydeposits, features a copy of the logo and looks authentic. The wording is urgent and tells recipients not to delay clicking on the link in order to continue receiving “Important messages.”
“The situation has been reported to the relevant authorities and we are thoroughly investigating the scam” says a message on the mydeposits website.
