Data from Agency Express suggests that the lettings market is wobbling with a sharp decline in its usual measure - the number of ‘To Let’ and ‘Let By’ boards.
April’s results show a significant fall in both categories with national figures for new listings ‘To Let’ down 19.7 per cent while properties ‘Let’ were down 22.1 per cent.
The figures showed the largest month on month decline for April since the company first measured this data in 2012.
All 12 regions analysed by Agency Express had problems. The regions to record the smallest declines in this month’s ‘To Let’ measure included West Midlands (down 13.4 per cent) and the East Midlands (down 13.5 per cent).
The smallest ‘Let By’ regional falls were in Scotland (down 2.8 per cent) and Yorkshire & Humberside (a fall of 13.3 per cent).
The largest declines recorded were made in London.
New listings ‘To Let’ fell by 24.3 per cent and properties ‘Let’ plummetted 26.1 per cent.
