Tenant referencing firm sets up specialist Fees Ban team

Tenant referencing company Rent4sure has set up a new team to support agents in the light of the expected ban on fees levied on tenants in England.

“We want to help agents get to grips with the complications of the market. We’ll be out on the road holding regional breakfast meetings with agents and working with them to help support their landlords” says associate sales director Clair Jones.

A new team of three working with Clair, plus a field-based team, will provide training and support on the pre-tenancy process. They will train agents on referencing, Insurance products and how to add value to their landlord and applicant/tenant services including conducting more robust checks on applicants, ensuring landlords have the correct insurance in place and streamlining the application process.

The proposed lettings fee ban is currently at its formal consultation stage and is open for responses up to June 2.

The Department of Communities and Local Government has confirmed this remains the case despite the June 8 General Election; meanwhile the Conservative, Labour and Liberal Democrat parties have all pledged in their manifestos that a ban on lettings fees levied on tenants will be introduced in England after the election.
