SDL Group is celebrating its 2,000th tenant in the new but fast-growing Build To Rent sector.
SDL works with developer Sigma Capital Group in the management of newly-built custom-made units under Sigma’s Simple Life brand.
Most of these are family homes in contrast to the usual focus on city apartments in the BTR sector.
The 2,000th home is situated in Middleton, Greater Manchester, at the Baytree Lane development, which encompasses 110 homes of either two, three or four bedrooms.
“This is a tremendous achievement and testament to our aim to revolutionise the industry, continuing our journey of rapid growth, dedication to customer service and improving living standards for our tenants. It’s clear that the UK housing market is undergoing a significant restructuring, and from a demand perspective, renting is now a much more acceptable form of tenure than it was in previous generations” says Paul Staley, director of PRS at SDL Group.
“With up to a third of young people expected to live in private rented accommodation all their lives, it is vital that the sector helps to fill the vital gap within the current housing market, by providing high-quality homes of variable sizes.”
SDL Group claims to be on track to meet its goal of managing 20 per cent of the UK’s new BTR stock by 2020, which would mean managing over 10,000 properties nationwide.
