The council at Brighton & Hove has won an extra £34,820 in public money from the government to help it build a new database where tenants can complain.
The council says the new online system, currently under construction, will enable tenants experiencing problems with their home to request help, provide detailed information and upload photographs to highlight concerns.
“Council staff can then quickly make a full assessment and target enforcement action to tackle problems, such as disrepair, safety concerns, damp, and excess cold, more effectively and efficiently” says a statement from the authority, where Labour is the largest party.

Well if the council already know some are living in sub standard housing why don't they do something about it?
Any chance of a database to help landlords ? On second thoughts that won’t win any generation rent votes or generate council fees let’s not bother !
This council has a terrible reputation for there own stock they are trying to deflect this saying private landlords always wrong...
can we see some news on the clamp down on social housing please....... many tenants are particularly vulnerable and in sub standard social housing and nobody wanted to know or do anything about it
why the council bagging another 35k to deal with prs when the money would be well use to provide more housing for the homeless. who in the world gave them the money. have they any idea how hard it is for the homeless especially over christmas new year winter time? perhaps the decision maker should spend a night on the street to find out before they chuck the money anywhere they like without thought of priority
Why isn't there, Countrywide, a ONE simple database that links the property address to the Local Authority responsible for that area. - ' simples ' and it wouldn't cost a fraction of that amount !
