Administrators appointed for short lets agency that owes thousands

Administrators have been appointed as a result of action taken by a major creditor of Brighton Holiday Homes, the agency which closed unexpectedly a fortnight ago.

Paul Zalkin and Maxine Reid of business advisory firm Quantuma have been appointed as joint administrators of Brighton Holiday Homes, the 14 year old agency which was based in the town and specialised in short lets and holiday lettings.

The reasons for the failure of the business are not known.

We carried a story last week saying that the agency was reported by the local media in the town to have ceased trading, although at that time its website included details of an autumn sale for those booking in the near future, and listed a team of 16 pictured individuals who work for the company.

Attempts by Letting Agent Today to get hold of the company came to nothing and the Brighton Argus said some Brighton Holiday Homes customers had been left “heartbroken” because they paid money to the company for short lets they could no longer take.

Yesterday Paul Zalkin, one of the joint administrators at Quantuma, issued a statement to Letting Agent Today saying: “Our immediate focus will be to contact the company’s directors so they can assist us in managing communications with customers who have been left out of pocket, with no explanation as to what has happened to their bookings.

“We will robustly investigate the company’s financial affairs and the circumstances leading up to its failure. At this early stage the situation is uncertain, but we will endeavour to secure the most positive outcome possible under difficult circumstances.”
