Work has started on a new 216-unit Build To Rent project in Leeds; it’s to be known as Fabrik.
Grainger is the chief investment source with Leeds-based Oakapple Group acting as developer and Tolent Construction Limited as the building contractor.
The project had previously been announced in principle but work has now started on site with an anticipated completion date of late 2021.
It’s being forward funded for around £34m.
"We are pleased to announce start on site of our latest investment in Leeds, one of our target regional cities, which will deliver 216 new high quality, purpose built rental homes. Fabrik will complement our 242-home Yorkshire Post development, also in Leeds, thereby providing over 500 units in Leeds once these schemes are delivered” says Grainger chief executive Helen Gordon.
And Philip Taylor, chairman of Oakapple Group, adds: As a Leeds business we are particularly pleased to see a major institution committing further to our city. It is a vote of confidence in the [area] and hopefully a catalyst for further schemes to come forward in the area".
