The housing association Cadwyn is calling for private sector landlords with properties in Cardiff to lease their houses to those on the city council’s waiting list.
Approximately 8,000 households in Cardiff are on the authority waiting list for new homes, with around 400 new applications added each month.
Cadwyn has just over 400 private houses leased with them and has been involved in leasing with private landlords since 2005.
The association ensures guaranteed monthly rent, with damage and repairs covered, depending on the lease package chosen.
A council spokeswoman says: “While we are doing everything we can to increase the amount of affordable housing in the city, including building 2,000 new council homes and buying back property from the market, there is still significant pressure on the housing waiting list. That’s why we are happy to support Cadwyn, and back their campaign to encourage more private landlords to work with them.”

We should not let it go into private landlords hands.
You should work hard to earn a living and save like the rest of us and get your own housing instead of whinge and whine and then expect the council to house you.at below market rate
