Asking rent cut after social media slams agency’s Zoopla listing

A news website is reporting that a landlord cut the asking rent of a property after social media criticism of its original listing on Zoopla.

Comments on social media likened the property to “someone’s hallway” and a “prison” and described it as “grim”.

The original asking rent of £850 pcm was cut to £750 for the Cambridge studio apartment, which consists of a bathroom, kitchen area and single bed. Bills are included in the rent.

The property was listed by local lettings agency EPC Properties which said it contacted the landlord to consider a revised asking rent following complaints it had received.

Hasan Osman, partner as EPS Properties, told the Cambridge News website: "The price is deemed by the current market value … More importantly all the bills are included in this price too. The bills include water, gas, electric, council tax, and Wi-Fi."

He added that: "I do feel the pictures don't do the property justice" and that the £750 revised price was i"very reasonable" for a studio property that included a shower room, small kitchenette, and outdoor space.
