An online lettings agency says two thirds of landlords and tenants have ‘issues’ with their agents - and substantial numbers claim to receive rental income late.
Mashroom has issued the results of a survey of 251 landlords and 391 tenants conducted last month.
This says 66 per cent of landlords and tenants had issues when using a letting agent; 62 per cent of tenants experience a lack of repairs for property issues, for which they allegedly blame agents; and 49 per cent of landlords claim they fail to receive money from tenants at the correct time.
As a result some 26 per cent of landlords and 22 per cent of tenants say they would prefer to rent directly, without an agent, next time around.
The most common issue for both parties, which 54 per cent of tenants and 77 per cent of landlords highlighted, was poor communication with their letting agent.
Some 28 per cent of landlords also stated that they were confused by the jargon the agent used.
Meanwhile 59 per cent of landlords and tenants also said that their letting agent failed to keep them up to date with their rights and legal changes.

Let me guess, but their own landlords and tenants think they are wonderful.
