Leaders Romans Group has launched what it claims is its first sustainable branch lettings office.
Its Brighton city centre branch, operating under the Leaders brand, used green office and retail design consultancy Jackson Associates to completely refurbish and design the office to new green principles.
All of the materials used have been produced with longevity in mind, to ensure the branch is not only sustainable today, but will continue to be so for years to come.
A prominent feature was that every element of the office was made in the UK, or ideally local to Brighton to limit transport emissions and support local green suppliers.
The branch is completely powered by renewable energy, while all furniture is 100 per cent recycled or reused and will be up cycled at the end of its life. There is also so-called ‘circular’ carpeting - it’s made from 65 per cent post-industrial recycled content and the supplier will repurpose and recycle the carpeting when it reaches end of life.
In addition to the drive for sustainable branches, LRG says it will plant 16,000 trees by 2023, in partnership with a group called GreenTheUK.
David Wilson, chief operating officer at LRG, comments: “The property industry has a key part to play in halting the devastating effects of climate change. We already know that more tenants and homeowners are prioritising green home improvements to limit personal carbon emissions and it’s essential that this trend is replicated at an industry level.
“We are proud to lead on greener property management and develop a sustainable approach to business and real estate. It is time for the property sector to embrace the next big challenge and step up to help turn the industry green.”

But strangely there is NO commercial EPC on this retail unit. At epcregister . com there is a not-so-good EPC Grade E for the offices above 119-120 Western Road but nothing at all for the refurbished shop unit! Come on Leaders it doesn't take much to commission a new EPC on a retail unit. There are over 1 million commercial EPCs on the national database and over 20 million domestic EPCs. Commercial landlords AND tenants are getting their buildings up to EPC Grade B and Grade A.
Whenever one of my properties becomes available Romans send me a touting letter despite being told not to. They think it is clever marketing. It isn’t.
