Since the AIIC was established in 1996 its aim has been to ensure that every landlord, tenant and agent in the UK is aware of the importance of the inventory process and the benefits of employing an independent, professional independent inventory clerk.
The AIIC ensures that proper information and training is available for all members to provide the best possible service.
Don’t be fooled by businesses claiming to provide inventory services where they may have little or no experience in the field. The growing popularity of the lettings industry has seen an increase in these types of companies. You can be assured that by using an AIIC member independent inventory clerk:
- They will have agreed to conduct their business in a professional manner in accordance with the Guidelines to Professional Practice
- They will abide by the AIIC’s Code of Practice
- They have Professional Indemnity insurance
- They have Public Liability insurance
- They are experts in their field and will save you time, money and hassle.

The Association of Independent Inventory Clerks (AIIC) has announced that it is now offering a comprehensive range of high quality online training courses.
The new courses are being offered in addition to the organisation's existing two-day courses, providing an alternative way for an independent inventory clerk to gain membership to the AIIC.
As well as inventory clerks, the online courses are available to other interested parties, such as letting agents and landlords.
There are three courses currently available, a full online 'Inventory Course', a 'Check Out Refresher Workshop' and an 'Inventory Refresher Workshop'.
The refresher workshops are aimed at those who are already familiar with the inventory process, while the full Inventory course is aimed at new, existing and prospective clerks, as well as all other interested parties.
Clerks who complete the full inventory course will be eligible to apply for AIIC membership at no additional cost.
All online courses are being provided by Solutions 4 Inventories.
"I'm delighted to announce that we've introduced online courses to bolster our training offering," says Patricia Barber, Chair of the AIIC.
"Our existing two-day courses remain extremely popular, attracting inventory clerks, letting agents and landlords from all over the country."
"However, we've had requests for easier access to our training and the online courses provide the perfect solution," she says.
Barber adds: "The courses are ideal for people who can't attend one of our sessions or perhaps a landlord or agent who wants to brush up on their knowledge of the inventory process."
She points out that as the Private Rented Sector continues to grow in size, inventories are becoming increasingly important.
"It's crucial that people working in the industry have a solid understanding of the inventory process and we hope our courses can facilitate this, as well as accrediting independent inventory clerks from all over the UK," she says.
The AIIC is the UK's largest membership organisation for independent clerks and recently announced that it has joined the Property Redress Scheme.
This year, the organisation is celebrating its 20th anniversary.
