Two rogue letting agents in London have been fined thousands of pounds as part of a council campaign to clean up the rental sector in its area.
Enjoy London Ltd and its director Antonio Scarpignato have pleaded guilty to operating unlicensed Houses in Multiple Occupation in two different areas of Camden.
The agency was fined £4,000 and Scarpignato was fined £2,000.
Another letting agency - unnamed by the council - was also found guilty of the same offence relating to one specific area of Camden and fined £3,000.
Enjoy London Ltd and Scarpignato were additionally fined £2,000 and £3,000 respectively for management breaches.
Early morning visits to some of the agency’s properties by council officers discovered that the homes had been sub-divided to create cramped rooms, and with some fire alarms missing.
