The government’s official index for the private rental sector has shown that rents rose by 1.5 per cent in the 12 months to January - up very slightly from the 1.4 per cent annual figure reported a month earlier.
Across the national regions private rental prices grew by 1.5 per cent in the past year in England, 1.3 per cent in Wales, and by 0.6 per cent in Scotland.
Focusing on the English regions, the largest annual rental price increase was in the South West at 2.3 per cent, up from 2.2 per cent in December 2019.
