A review of the private rental sector in Northern Ireland has been launched - but there is a tight deadline, with February 5 the final day for online responses.
The Department of Social Responsibility in the province’s devolved government says the aim of the review is to consider the current and future roles of the sector, its regulation, and where improvements can be made “to help make the private rented sector a more attractive housing option.”
As is the case in much of the rest of the UK, the private rental sector in Northern Ireland - currently consisting of 16 per cent of all households - is tipped to rise extensively in the future.
The review document - which you can see here - contrasts private rental sector regulation across the different national regions of the UK and elsewhere in the world too.
It is split into five chapter covering the role of the private rented sector, supply and investment, housing and tenancy management, habitation standards, and equality and screening.
All responses must reach the NI government by February 5; contact details are on the document. ARLA is also responding and if you wish to contribute to this, email timdouglas@nfopp.co.uk.
